Although one hoped in the first commemorative document that the tower would have been completed in 1888, its accomplishment, including the installation of the tower clock, occurred only in 1890; that is stated also on the memorial tablet on the ground floor of the tower. Since that time the tower, which is 65 m high and there are 168 steps leading to its top, has become a real respectful complement to the Cathedral. Regarding the panorama, it has even overtopped the Cathedral substantially and has become a symbol of the Cathedral Hill visible from miles away: one cannot imagine the view of Litoměřice from a bank of the Elbe without the tower any more.
